Prepared for Lyric & Dianne Brown · JoziGirl Cosmetics
A web-first virtual try-on experience tuned for African skin tones and textured hair, engineered by the Lumanaire AI fleet. Shorter timeline, local team, honest pricing — with a defensible moat that global SDK vendors can't build.
You built JoziGirl to serve a market the global giants have historically underserved. The technology you deploy should match that ambition — not import it.
Perfect Corp, ModiFace and Banuba built excellent AR SDKs — but their shade libraries were built in Seoul, Paris and Tel Aviv. They under-match African foundation and under-classify coily hair. Here's what we build that they can't.
A foundation-shade grid spanning Fitzpatrick IV–VI with African undertone ranges — neutral, red, olive, golden, deep — that global SDKs underrepresent. Training data stays in SA. POPIA-compliant. Your IP at project end.
On-device 3A–4C classifier fine-tuned on a local dataset.
NaviLens codes on every SKU. First SA cosmetics brand with the story.
A production-grade virtual try-on web app with checkout, admin, and analytics. MediaPipe for face tracking, DeepAR for hair. Your shade library and classifier sit on top — that's the IP we build for you.
The "Pharaoh Code" concept is essentially NaviLens — already deployed at Tesco Ireland, Kellogg's, NYC MTA. Rather than clone it and risk IP claims, we position JoziGirl as NaviLens's South African launch partner.
468 facial landmarks at 30fps on any modern phone. Works in-browser, no app install needed.
MediaPipe FaceMeshFoundation recs calibrated for melanin-rich skin.
Your IP100 wigs, auto-sized, 180° rotation.
DeepAR + MODNetYoco-powered. Card, EFT, SnapScan.
Yoco paymentsTry-on rate, conversion, shade popularity.
PostHog + GA4SMS for a friction-free mobile sign-up.
Twilio + SupabaseCape Town POP. Sub-100ms first paint.
Vercel · CloudflareHelmet, DOMPurify, CSP, RLS, OWASP.
POPIA-compliantScreen readers, keyboard, reduced motion.
Built-inEach phase ends with a demo you can show funders, partners, and retail buyers. Milestones align with grant disbursements.
Web app foundation, makeup try-on, African shade-match engine v1, product catalogue, shopper auth, Yoco checkout, admin dashboard.
DeepAR + MODNet hair segmentation, 100 wig assets rigged, hair-type classifier, auto-sizing. Private beta launch.
Partnership broker, integration layer, packaging codes for first 20 SKUs, retail-partner pitch deck.

Structured to align with typical government grant disbursements. Phase gates are our commitment to ship before you pay the next slice.
RealtyPA · Respocare AI · GenX AI Healthcare · Content Creator Awards · Command Center. Seven production deployments in 18 months.
An AI fleet across Tailscale-networked Mac minis — ops, content, pipelines, incidents — shipping, reviewing, deploying automatically.
Cape Town + Johannesburg hours. Same-day phone calls. Grant-funded projects are familiar. POPIA-first, ZAR contracts.
Our own Command Center hub platform is the template your admin dashboard inherits from. 18 months of polish baked in.
This project qualifies for TIA's Seed Fund (up to R1M, TRL 3–8) and the Women Technology and Innovation Programme (WTIP). Below is the information TIA evaluators need — technology readiness, commercialisation pathway, transformation impact, and milestone-based budget.
Current: TRL 3–4 (proof of concept). Target: TRL 7 (system prototype in operational environment).
Four dimensions of novelty position this project as a Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) initiative with national significance.
First locally developed foundation-matching system for Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin tones with African undertone ranges.
First SA on-device hair classification model covering 3A–4C coil patterns, trained on a locally sourced dataset.
Real-time augmented reality and machine learning for inclusive commerce — core Fourth Industrial Revolution technology.
Replacing offshore SDK licensing (Perfect Corp/Seoul, ModiFace/Paris) with South African-developed intellectual property.
Defined route from prototype to revenue with identified customers and measurable targets.
B2C: E-commerce checkout on try-on platform (Yoco payments)
B2B: Shade library API licensing to Woolworths, Dis-Chem, Pick n Pay
Instagram + TikTok community build → waitlist → private beta (500 users) → retail pilot with 1–3 national chains
5,000 MAU · R500k GMV through platform · 3 retail partnership conversations initiated
25,000 MAU · B2B API licensing live with 3 retailers · R2M+ annualised GMV
Democratises access to beauty technology for African consumers historically underserved by global platforms calibrated for lighter skin tones.
Lumanaire trains JoziGirl team on platform administration, analytics interpretation, and content management — building in-house tech capability.
Virtual try-on reduces physical product testers (hygiene + waste), supporting environmental sustainability in retail cosmetics.
All source code, shade library data, and hair classifier models owned 100% by JoziGirl (Pty) Ltd at project end.
IP developed entirely in South Africa by SA-based development team (Lumanaire, Cape Town + Johannesburg).
Trade secrets (shade library formulas), copyright (codebase), trademark (JoziGirl brand). POPIA-compliant — no training data leaves SA.
Disbursements tied to verifiable deliverables at each TRL gate. Total project cost R550,000 — within TIA Seed Fund R1M cap.

Our R550k ask fits well within the cap.
Launched March 2025 to address funding barriers for women entrepreneurs in tech. Black women-founded 4IR venture — JoziGirl is a textbook fit.
Requirements: SA citizenship + valid ID, CIPC registration, CSD registration, SARS tax clearance, B-BBEE compliance. All IP must be developed in South Africa.
Accept this proposal and we'll book a discovery week kick-off inside seven days. By the end of that week — wireframes, component-library preview, and a Phase 1 build plan in the project tracker.
